Here’s a list of the games that got played:

It Pays to DM at The Haunted Game Cafe

Josh Cooper, our veteran Dungeon Master, has been collecting $5 gift tokens for a while now. Today, he cashed them in for a box of Innistrad!

Volunteers who run paid events for The Haunted Game Cafe get compensated with Gift Tokens. It’s the least we can do for all the people that are so great about volunteering their time and energy to share the game that they love.

Congrats, Josh!

Extra Life Charity – 24 Hour Game Marathon!

Extra Life is an annual 24-hour game marathon that raises money to help kids at Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. It’s never been this much fun to do this much good.

This year’s event begins at 8 a.m. on Oct. 15, 2011. Each participant is asked to raise money by recruiting at least four sponsors to give $1 for each hour of the marathon (that’s just $24 per sponsor).

The event will be held here at the Cafe. We’ll be playing board games from our Open Game Library as well as games brought by our players.  There will be free coffee for all participants. In addition, everyone who plays games at the cafe that day will be asked to make a donation to the Extra Life Charity.

If you can’t play the full 24 hours on Oct. 15 that’s OK. You can make up the time later, or even get ahead by playing some of your 24 hours BEFORE the event. The time played isn’t important. The important thing is to make the commitment to help local children get better. All the money you raise will stay at the Children’s Miracle Network Hospital near you.

I want to DONATE

Go to the Haunted Game Cafe Team page on the Extra Life web site.  Choose  one of the participants and then click the “Support This Participant” button on their page. Donations can only be made to individuals, but the total each participant raises goes toward our team goal.

I want to PLAY

Go to the Extra Life web page and create an account. Choose The Haunted Game Cafe as your team. We’re asking each participant to raise $100.

Dungeons & Dragons Game Day

D&D Game Day is a one day event that spotlights the Neverwinter Campaign Setting with an exclusive adventure entitled Gates of Neverdeath. Hired on as caravan guards to protect precious cargo bound for the city of Neverwinter, the characters are introduced to the intrigues and danger that await in this fabled Forgotten Realms locale. For the first time, players will create their own D&D characters at the event and play in a prelude adventure to the upcoming D&D Encounters season which begins the following Wednesday.

What Do I Need to Play?
Just bring your dice and a copy of either Heroes of the Fallen Lands or Heroes of the Forgotten Kingdoms (or both if you’d like). Character sheets and other materials will be provided. At the store, you can pick up your copy of the Neverwinter Campaign Setting if you want additional options for your character. You’ll make a 1st-level character as a part of the D&D Game Day experience, and will be able to continue to play your character in the new D&D Encounters season, the Lost Crown of Neverwinter!

Check out the listing on our Events Page for more info.
